STANTON LEWIS: bio and profile

Born in Johannesburg, Lewis is the son of former Kaizer Chiefs player Ramon Lewis.

Stanton began his youth career in South Africa with Orlando Pirates, and also played for Wits University before moving to Ajax Cape Town in 2002 for whom he excelled extremely quickly.

He made his professional league debut in 2004, and made a total of eight league appearances, scoring one goal, for Ajax Cape Town. Lewis signed for Ajax Amsterdam in July 2006 on a four-year contract.

At Ajax Amsterdam, Stanton featured regularly in the Jong Ajax Team, but an injury setback stopped Lewis from progressing to the first team.

Lewis returned to Cape Town in 2009 to undergo an operation and fight his way back to full fitness. He returned from injury with Ajax Cape Town in 2010 playing 8 matches and scoring 4 goals.

Now at AmaZulu FC, he has returned to full fitmess and to his previous level of form.

The attacking midfielder/striker represented his country once at senior level and was capped at both U20 and U23 levels.
